First documented 800 years BC, the practice was carried out by Shinto practitioners. Shinto is the ancient religion of Japan and it is believed that everyone and everything has a connection. A follower of the Shinto religion meditates with the trees in the forest to achieve a deep relaxed state. Now in Japan there are over 60 national Shinrin Yoku woodland centres and Shinrin Yoku courses are prescribed by the doctors and hospitals.
