Forest Retreats is a proud member of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Tourism Association (http://www.wyedeantourism.co.uk). We use a variety of unique venues across the Wye Valley, which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB), and the equally stunning Forest of Dean.
There are over 7 million visits a year to this area (Wye Dean Tourism 2016), with many visitors being attracted by the natural beauty of the forest, rivers and breath taking landscapes. This area boarders England and Wales and is increasingly being viewed as an area of wellbeing due to it tranquillity and rejuvenating energy.
The Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean has a large range of varied attractions, which includes the enchanting Puzzlewood (https://www.puzzlewood.net), most famous for being a set location for the Star Wars trilogy amongst other blockbusters and Tintern Abbey (https://cadw.gov.wales/daysout/tinternabbey/?lang=en) which welcomes 70,000 visitors a year. Tintern’s Cistercian Abbey is an outstanding beauty and is the most well preserved medieval abbey in Wales. It dates back to 1131 and was home to thousands of monks and was a hub of the Tintern community in its prime.
The natural landscape lends itself to activities, which includes Kayaking and Canoeing the River Wye, Cycling the many tracks throughout the area and Walking, which may include some of the famous Offas Dyke trail that explores the spectacular scenery and the history of the Anglo-Welsh border.
